Tamil Nadu moved this Court by means of a suit under Article 131 of the Constitution being Suit No. 1 of 1971 seeking a direction to the Union Government to constitute a Tribunal and to refer the dispute to it. In the said suit, Tamil Nadu applied for an interim order to restrain the State of Karnataka from proceeding with and executing the projects mentioned therein. This Court by its Order of 25th January, 1971 dismissed the application for interim relief.
